OUR STORY
Founded in 1914 by William James Byrne, Tipperary Station has been at the heart of the Northern Territory’s agricultural landscape for over a century. Originally established as a cattle station, the property remains foremost a working cattle station to this day. Running up to 42,000 head of Brahman cattle. In recent years, Tipperary Station has expanded its horizons, now growing cotton and lemons, and proudly holds the title of the largest cotton producer in Northern Australia.
In the 1980s and 90s, Tipperary Station also operated a wildlife sanctuary, home to over 2,000 animals, including Antelopes, Rhinos, Giraffes, and Hippos. Though the animals have long since gone, the infrastructure from that era still stands, offering a glimpse into the Station’s unique history.
The private, family-owned station is managed by long-term General Managers David Connolly and Sue Brosnan. Tipperary Station continues to thrive, maintaining the standard of excellence that has earned it a reputation beloved by locals and visitors alike.
Spanning approximately 4,000 square kilometres, or a million acres across Tipperary Station, Douglas West Station, and Litchfield Station, the property is home to over 50 dedicated staff members in roles ranging from horticulture, farming, and cattle, to other vital operations like our conservation management practices.
Today, Tipperary Station is a place where agriculture meets adventure. We invite you to explore our little slice of paradise, from the sweeping landscapes to our newly introduced adventure safari tours where luxury meets the wild, and the spirit of the Northern Territory is alive in every experience.
